Getting The Right Fit

Getting The Right Fit

Every kid should have access to a great school that puts them on track to be college and career ready.

Families know their child’s needs and talents better than anyone else. A school that is a great fit for one kid may not be the right school for another.

As you explore your options and meet with schools, be sure to check out the Rise Up Family Advocacy Guide.

By selecting the school that you believe is best for your child, you can:

  • Choose a learning environment that fits your child’s specific skills and talents. Does he or she need small classes? A diverse student body? A chance to be in sports, fine arts or clubs?

  • Build relationships with teachers and school leaders who will be partners in supporting your child’s academic success.

  • Increase your ability to shape your child’s overall development.

When looking for a school that is a good fit for your child, it’s important to know what your options are. You have the right to know all of your options before committing to just one.

We suggest applying to at least two different schools in case your child is not admitted to your first choice - so that you still have another option.

A good fit school is a personal choice for you and your family. Therefore, we do not recommend any particular model over another. You, the parent, are in the best position to decide which option best suits the needs and talents of your child.
